The Global Competence Matrix was created through a collaboration between the Council of Chief State School Officers’ EdSteps Project the Asia Society Partnership for Global Learning. Global education is defined and a general Global Competence matrix was developed. Content specific matrices for Art, ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies and World Languages may also be helpful. This rubric was designed for 10th grade students. It is general and able to be customized for a variety of courses.
Tool 3: IB Learner Profile

International Baccalaureate programs have incorporated global competencies into the curriculum. I base my Global Competency assessment off the IB learner profile. They are easy to adapt for non IB courses and the consistency is helpful to both mysef and my students. The following are sample rubrics that are based on the IB Learner profile. The first is secondary level, the second is elementary level.
